Settle fixed meal hours!
The human brain functions on simple rules. Pavlov's experiments support this and surprisingly they are connected to food. Although we have a much developed nervous system than a dog, some reflexes are identical. See why is it important to to have fixed meal hours: although at first it might seem difficult, eventually the stomach will get used to the fixed hours meal and will only release peptic fluids when the food is about to come. Aside this it will rest and cravings won't appear. When the stomach is prepared to get food, it “launches” the digestive artillery and the aliments will be broken down instead of deposited. If you constantly surprise your stomach with tiny bites, it will tend to deposit and keep you from losing weight!
Chew rarely!
You've settled the fixed meal hours and all day you stare at the clock hoping the time will pass by faster. Finally lunch hour arrives and you overrun your food. Stop! Why? You might chew fast, but your brain processes much slower. Therefore the message “I am full” will arrive later and you'll tend to overeat. For the brain to understand fullness, it waits for the signal of the stomach and its walls distension. If you rush into your meal, the message to stop will come late and will block you from losing weight.
Give up soft drinks!
Do you have any idea how many empty calories you consume daily? We did some calculations: 100 ml of soft drinks mean aprox 40 kcal. If you drink at least 1 liter of sparkling drink/day that's 400 kcal. Add up the morning juice, that's 500 kcal/day. Equal to a chocolate! See why you don't lose weight?
Drink water!
There is one good reason why all magazines, nutritionist and health care specialists recommend a minimum of 2 l water/day. What would be this reason? The explanation is quite simple: kidneys filter the liquids in the organism and they cannot function properly if water is missing. In case of dehydration a part of their work is overtaken by the liver. And what does the liver normally do? The liver breaks down fat and turns it into energy. And if it is busy doing something else, the
fat is deposited. See why you don’t reach your
weight loss goal?
